Khalifa University’s Industrial and Systems Engineering Department currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering and is expecting a rapid growth in the near future. The Department undertakes cutting edge research and educates students in areas such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Operations Research, Quality Management, and Lean Systems. The Department is in the process of developing a Master’s program with specializations in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation, Lean Manufacturing Systems, and Healthcare Systems Engineering. Introduction of a PhD program will follow shortly.
Starting in Fall 2015 or Spring 2016, this position will conduct teaching, research and academic service. Academic rank is open.
Teaching responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels using the latest instructional technology and teaching methods, and contributing to the development, planning and implementation of high quality curriculum. Faculty are expected to excel in teaching within their area of expertise.
Research responsibilities include carrying out high quality research and producing publications in high impact journals. Moreover, faculty will identify and successfully bid for external funding and grants in their area of expertise, and engage in industrial research projects. These should be done with an eye towards actively raising the Department and Faculty’s profile, internally and externally.
Those candidates successfully acquiring this position will be expected to perform academic service, including contributing to departmental or University-wide working groups or committees, contributing to student recruitment, retention and placement efforts, supporting student organization activities, and contributing to the community at large in participatory, developmental and advisory capacities.
Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field from a reputable university. The Department is particularly interested in motivated candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Simulation, Supply chain, logistics and transportation, quality management, production management, lean manufacturing, and operations research. The candidate is expected to have a strong research potential, demonstrated by relevant publications in high-impact journals, and teaching experience in above mentioned areas. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills. The medium of instruction across Khalifa University is English.
